KNUST Teaching Hospital project

  • Project Status: Work has resumed, and parliament has approved budgetary allocations to finish the first phase of the 800-bed facility.
  • Call for Completion: The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II (KNUST Chancellor), has urged the government to ensure the project is completed on schedule, highlighting its importance to healthcare and education.
  • Funding: The government reaffirmed its commitment with a 46 million Ghana cedis injection in late 2025 to revive the project, which had stalled for over a decade.
  • Facility Scope: The 71-acre project is designed to be a premier medical training facility, including a cardiothoracic and neurosurgical center, diagnostics units, and an Outpatient Department (OPD).

The project was originally initiated in 2007 to support the training of medical students and relieve pressure on Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
